Emilia Clarke on Game of Thrones season 8, possible secret changes
Speaking in the latest edition of the Awards Chatter podcast over on The Hollywood Reporter, series star Emilia Clarke claims that she first read the season 8 scripts back in 2017 … but following that, she is starting to think that the series has underwent many changes behind the scenes — and on purpose for the sake of keeping people surprises:
“Since then, people are saying something on set, and you’re just like, ‘I think that they’re filming other stuff.’ Everyone’s being really cagey about it… There’s lots of different endings that could happen. I think we’re doing all of them and we aren’t being told which is actually what’s going to happen.”
This is not the first time that there has been talk about there potentially being some fake footage shot for the final season in order to keep certain spoilers at bay. The problem that Game of Thrones runs into is that many of their largest scenes (i.e. the battles) have to be filmed out on location and with that in mind, there is always the risk of a bunch of spoilers leaking out. The cast and crew have to be on high alert in order to ensure that nothing leaks that constitutes a major spoiler; after all, if something does then the entire team runs a risk of much of their work being ruined.
Ultimately, we just hope that anyone who does know spoilers considers this: The enjoyment of the final season is worth a lot to so many people. Don’t spoil it just for the sake of the bottom line.
