Next Arrowverse crossover will include Batwoman, Gotham

Batwoman

While the Arrowverse may hesitate from using the words “Batman” or “The Joker” (after all, Gotham isn’t even allowed to use the latter), it does seem as though they are throwing Batwoman into the mix.

Speaking (per TVLine) while at The CW upfronts today, Arrow star Stephen Amell confirmed that this epic event is going to be one of the biggest ones yet:

“We will be doing another crossover event this fall on The CW [and] we will be introducing a new character. We will be fighting alongside Batwoman.”

Gotham will also be featured in some capacity (even if it is just by name) over the course of the crossover event. We already have heard some references to Wayne Enterprise within the Arrowverse over the years, so it’s not all that big of a shock to hear that The CW is finally going in this direction.

How will it work?

That is definitely a question worth pondering over at the moment, especially since there are probably only so many Batman-related characters who can be used. Not only does The CW have to think here about crossing paths with the movies, but also Gotham and we’re not sure DC Comics would want to do that until that show is over next season.

We wouldn’t be shocked if the Arrowverse version of Gotham is one in which Bruce Wayne is not Batman and the character exists on another Earth. We know that some of this could end up happening in opposition of what’s going on in the comics but in this particular universe, Greg Berlanti and the rest of the production team can do whatever they want. No matter what is decided here, it’s going to be exciting to see what’s next — especially in terms of who is cast and if this could lead to a full-fledged Batwoman series down the road.
