The Blacklist season 6 premiere date hopes for James Spader, cast
For now, let’s start things off in terms of precisely what we know. For example, there is going to be a season 6 beyond the shadow of a doubt. This was announced over the weekend by NBC, which means we are going to have a chance to see some more interesting storylines and potentially exciting aftermath you whatever happens with the duffel bag reveal. But that being said, The Blacklist season 6 is not on NBC schedule for the fall. What gives with that? It simply comes down to whatever the network wants to do, and they clearly didn’t feel satisfied enough in the ratings for season 5 to put it on at some point from Monday to Thursday night.
The good news here is that The Blacklist season 6 is still going to run for a full 22 episodes despite not premiering in the fall. Instead, The Blacklist is going to be airing on Friday nights when it does come on … which is going to be presumably in the new year. That’s a very challenging timeslot, especially when you look at the ratings performance from Taken at 9:00 p.m. Eastern over the course of the past year. That show is already cancelled, and we are certainly worried for the future of The Blacklist there. Grimm was able to perform there for a while, but we probably should consider that to be the exception rather than the norm.
If there is a silver lining here, it is the fact that the Blacklist will probably get a chance to air the entirety of its episodes in succession from one week to the next. Think of this as somewhat similar to what 24 used to do on Fox back in the day. It’s not something that happens all that often, given the vast majority of shows take some sort of hiatus in the midst of their 22-episode run. The Blacklist itself has done that a number of times over the course of its history. (Update: NBC has confirmed that the season will run continuously without repeats.)
We are grateful for the chance to see James Spader and the rest of the Blacklist cast for at least one more season. Obviously, it would be outstanding to get a season 7 and even more beyond that. For now though, it just seems like the right thing to do is to be grateful and take things one season at a time. We don’t want to get our hopes up, and we certainly don’t want to get your hopes up either.
More than likely, you are probably going to have to wait until the fall in order to get the form of The Blacklist season 6 premiere date announcement. Many of the premiere dates for the fall series should be announced at some point over the summer.
