Gotham season 4 finale promo: Will a Dark Knight really rise?

Gotham

The Gotham season 4 finale is right around the corner. We know now that the show is coming back for a fifth and final season, so we can at least put that out of our mind. Instead, the focus can be placed firmly on the story and some of the craziness that is going to come up over the course of this fateful hour Thursday night.

If you have been reading much of the information that is out there, you already know just how intense and how crazy of a finale that we are getting. Let’s try to set the stage for a moment when it comes to the story. Jeremiah has already made it his mission to turn Gotham into ruin. He doesn’t want to necessarily destroy the entire city for good, but he does have an interest in reshaping it to fit his image. Enter Ra’s al Ghul. He turned back up at the end of this past episode, and with that he stated some of his own goals. As it turns out, he and Jeremiah have a little bit more in common than you would first assume. They are presumably going to be working together within this finale, destroying Gotham to enact a new era of change. For Roz, he seems to strongly believe that destroying the city will be precisely what causes Bruce to become the Dark Knight that the city actually needs.

Do you really think that everyone else is going to be okay with this plan coming to fruition? it is hard to imagine that they are going to, which is why you see many different characters fighting back in the extended promo below. We know that Barbara Kean, for example, has a little bit more power than she has ever had before. She has an army, and see may be intent on using that to fulfill her own purposes. We also know that Oswald is an opportunist in his own right, and he may take advantage of the chaos in the city to strike.

Meanwhile, it seems as though the Riddler’s mission is a little bit more personal. We know that there is some jealousy going on when it comes to Jim and Lee Thompkins, so he will find the time in the finale to torture him a little bit.

Based on most of the teases that are out there, signs point to Gotham never being the same moving out of this finale. While we don’t exactly want to stay that Bruce is going to be Batman by the closing minutes, he will certainly be closer to that character than he has ever been before. Meanwhile, some of these villains may feel a little bit more iconic moving into season 5.
