The Resident season 2 premiere date hopes for Matt Czuchry, cast
Before we get too far into speculation, let’s kick things off here by taking on some of the facts … beginning of course with the fact that The Resident season 2 is in fact happening. It was renewed by Fox earlier this month and earlier today, it was confirmed that the Matt Czuchry series is moving to 8:00 p.m. Eastern starting on Mondays this fall. (View the full Fox schedule over at the link here.) Will the series succeed in the fall like it did this spring? We hope so — this move is a huge stamp of approval for the show, which we do think has gotten substantially better over the past couple of months. There are a lot of exciting stories still to tell and we’re very much intrigued as to how the producers are going to tell them.
If there is one major concern we have for The Resident season 2, it is roughly the same one that we’ve got for just about every single show within this genre out there — there’s just SO much competition across the board for medical dramas these days. This past year brought us both this show and The Good Doctor, and they both were well-received enough to earn another season. Beyond that Chicago Med and Grey’s Anatomy are both on the air, the status of Code Black is currently unclear, and it’s still rather difficult to say whether or not NBC’s New Amsterdam featuring Ryan Eggold is going to be a big hit or not. Sooner or later, this genre could be overexposed. Luckily, thanks to the great performances and the story that is at the heart of The Resident, it does still stand out slightly amidst the field.
Our expectation, at least at the moment, is that the second season of the series is probably going to be premiering at some point near the end of September. This is typically, the proper premiere date for the vast majority of fall TV series.
