Lucifer season 3 finale: The ratings threshold we want to see
We’ve stated in some past articles already that the best thing all Lucifer fans out there can do in order to support the show is to watch live — even if you’re understandably bitter towards Fox, remember that these ratings are to help find the show a new home. The better it performs, the more likely it is that someone else will pick the show up.
This past week, we saw the latest new episode “Quintessential Deckerstar” draw a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. For one of the big four networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, and NBC), that rating is a little on the lower side. However, for our desired new Lucifer home in The CW it’s certainly far from bad; as a matter of fact, if the show moved over there and got a similar rating it’d be considered a smash hit. It’s probably unfair to sit here and say that Lucifer would for sure get a similar rating on a different network, but we do think it could keep at least 75%-80% of its audience.
Where we would like to see the series get with its finale is back up to a 0.8 rating, given that this would mark the best rating for Lucifer since the month of March. That would prove to networks the power of the fandom to single-handedly make the business of putting the show on the air better. The millions of tweets for #SaveLuficer and #BringLuciferBack are absolutely astounding, but at the same time they don’t impact the bottom line as much. Tonight is the chance to turn the tide, and it’s with a sensational finale that will completely alter Lucifer as we know it. If you love this series we have a pretty good feeling that you’re absolutely going to be thrilled with “A Devil of My Word.”
We do still think that there’s a chance another network / streaming service picks the show up. It doesn’t happen all that often but a little bit of fan enthusiasm goes a long way. It certainly is impressive to see a fan petition has more than 100,000 signatures.
