Timeless season 3: What’s the future for Rufus?
Based on some of the events that we ended up seeing transpire, it is absolutely fair to be raising that question. During the season 2 finale the character was killed seemingly in 19th-century San Francisco, which completely sapped the Time Team’s sense of hope. He had spent most of the second half of the season with the prophecy of death hanging over him and just when it seemed like he had found a way to survive, the rug was pulled out from under everyone. The character is gone despite everything and, as of the closing minutes of the episode, it certainly felt like he was dead.
Yet, here’s the big cliffhanger: Seeing the future versions of some of our beloved characters come back with the proclamation that they were there to save our beloved Hero in a Hoodie. Rufus is going to come back … maybe. First things first, Timeless needs to be renewed for a third season. Beyond just that, there has to be a plan in order to save this character.
The one thing that we do feel with confidence here is that after him spending so much time fighting to save the show, we can’t imagine Timeless doing Barrett dirty and writing him out during the season 2 finale. We don’t think he’s leaving and there could be all sorts of great story ahead for him. This is just an excellent way in order to fight to get the show back for another season. Creating a great cliffhanger is absolutely one of the best ways in which to do this and thanks to what we saw tonight, we certainly have that and then some. We love Rufus, just as we love the whole Time Team crew, and the last thing we want to see is that character going anywhere.
