Arrow season 7: David Ramsey making directorial debut

David Ramsey

Just in case you wanted some more good news on Arrow season 7, here it is: David Ramsey is set to officially direct an episode for the first time.

In a new post on Twitter this news was confirmed by none other than series star Stephen Amell. He will be helming the eleventh episode of the season, an installment that should air in either January or February of the new year (provided that the series operates under the same schedule that it usually does).

From our vantage point, we imagine that Ramsey is going to be exceptional in this role. He’s always been one of the best actors on Arrow and with that, he’s probably going to rock this out just as much. We’d be shocked if his episode features a lot of Diggle just because actors directing themselves can be a challenge (especially in their first time in the role), but it should be a great episode no matter how it is constructed.

Actors on The CW have a pretty rich history of directing episodes of some of their shows. For example, both Jensen Ackles and Misha Collins have directed on Supernatural, while Tom Cavanagh has directed multiple episodes of The Flash. In the greater Vampire Diaries / The Originals universe we’ve seen everyone from Joseph Morgan to Charles Michael Davis to Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder take on the role at one point or another. We love this since it is allowing actors to spread their wings and showcase even more of what they are capable of doing. The more of this that we get, the better that it is for performers and content creators moving forward.

Arrow season 7 is presumably going to premiere on The CW this fall — we’ll have some more updates soon.
