Chicago Fire season 6 episode 22 review: Casey and Dawson’s new problem
For Joe Cruz, what we saw tonight was a reminder that those feelings that he has for Brett aren’t going away. They resurfaced tonight when there was a new guy who had interest in picking up some of his slamigans; yet, Cruz also realized that this guy had some interest in Brett. That made him freak out and with that, he nearly blew the sale before Brett came around and tried to patch everything back together. She also wasn’t interested in this guy, which made Joe decide once and for all that he was going to tell her how he feels. This was causing him to not be himself anymore so with that in mind, it was determined that there really wasn’t anything else that could or should be done other than him coming clean.
As for some other stories from this episode, let’s just say that things are starting to get devastating for Dawson and Casey. They are spending some time plotting their future family but, in the process of that, they learned that Dawson had an aneurysm that could lead to a dangerous pregnancy. She still wanted to go through with having a family, though, which could prove problematic to her health … and also be something that Casey is not necessarily for at the moment. It’s a huge risk.
Speaking of risks, Kelly made one in recommending Boden over Grissom for Commissioner, which seemed to propel Boden to the front of the line. He also made one by continuing to have trust in Renee Royce, even though it did seem like she was pulling Severide away from the rest of his life. That in turn made Stella nervous, and the state of their relationship is now in an interesting spot.

Moving forward now, Chicago Fire has set the stage for an epic finale, one that has potential for wins but also plenty of devastation along the way.
