Brooklyn Nine-Nine canceled at Fox; could it be saved elsewhere?
Brooklyn Nine-Nine, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to have a future over at Fox. Today, the network has decided to end the Andy Samberg comedy after five seasons.
We cannot even begin to tell you how devastating this is for us as someone who absolutely loved this show and wanted to see at least one more year of it. While the finale is going to give you a proper celebration of all things Jake and Amy, the ratings fell to a level in which Fox as a network wasn’t thrilled.
Is there still hope for the series somewhere else? We’re writing this in the moment and with that, it’s hard to offer up any guarantees. Yet, at the same time there is a glimmer of hope. This is a show produced studio-wise by NBC and given their history with Mike Schur / Dan Goor on Parks and Recreation, we like to think there could be a chance there. Unfortunately the current Brooklyn Nine-Nine ratings seem to be making this a longshot. You never want to give up hope entirely but this is something we’re keeping a close eye on. As for other suitors, Hulu is another possibility that we’re looking at right now.
As for some other news…
Fox has also canceled The Mick after two seasons on the air. Clearly, all of these moves amount to the fact that the network is looking to largely revamp their entire roster of comedies with New Girl ending and with some new ones coming in, including potentially Last Man Standing after spending several years over on ABC.
