World of Dance season 3 renewal confirmed (already) at NBC
In a statement today confirming the great news, series judge / executive producer Jennifer Lopez had the following to pass along:
“We set out to make World of Dance a competition series of the highest caliber — every act that hits the stage gives their all and challenges themselves against the most elite athletes in the world … As an executive producer and judge, I’m constantly reminded of the heart and determination it takes to rise to the challenge and become the best of the best. I can’t wait to see the talent that comes across our stage for Season 3.”
There’s some merit in NBC going ahead and announcing the renewal in that it allows the show to do a better job casting and preparing for whatever comes up next — it’s also a clear vote of confidence for a show that became one of the breakout hits of last summer after America’s Got Talent.
If there is a way in which we would describe World of Dance, it’s almost like a dance TV competition all-stars. A lot of the acts from season 1 were ones we had seen before on other competitions over the years, but we didn’t really mind that because we got to see them all through a different lens and learn a little bit more about them. It’s pretty darn hard sometimes in order to make a career in dance and with that in mind, we more than support virtually any venue out there that allows people the chance to showcase their talent and hopefully get more work for themselves on the other side of it.
