Great news for everyone out there wanting to know the future of some of your favorite One Chicago shows plus Law & Order: SVU — all of them are coming back!

Tonight, NBC confirmed that Chicago Fire season 7, Chicago PD season 6, Chicago Med season 4, and Law & Order: SVU season 20 are all official. That’s great news for anyone who loves executive producer Dick Wolf and the talented crew around him. Beyond that, this also means that SVU is officially set to tie the original Law & Order and also Gunsmoke for the longest-running drama series in terms of seasons in primetime network television history. That’s fantastic and we really hope now that SVU can get a season 21 in order to claim pole position.

With the Mariska Hargitay series, arguably the best news here is that we may be able to see many more years for the show still. There aren’t any signs of ratings fatigue or that the powers-that-be are interested in moving on. We also haven’t heard anything regarding the cast having an interest in doing anything else. SVU managed to survive the exit of Raul Esparza (sad as it still is) and still seems to be going strong.

When it comes to the Chicago shows, there were some questions about Chicago Med in the media but we were never altogether concerned — its ratings were actually better than the other Chicago shows most of the season. As for PD, syndication should help the series stick around for a good while. Chicago Fire is coming up to a trying point in the run, given that this is around the time cast negotiations can happen. Even with that in mind, though, we’re hoping to see most of the Firehouse 51 crew stick around for some time.
