Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver ending? Don’t count on it…

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver ending

Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver ending after the conclusion to this past episode? We do understand on some level the reason for the questions. Just consider what happened at the end of last night’s episode! The show concluded with Oliver packing away the set and basically acting like he was done after a koala chlamydia ward was founded in his name.

If the show ever was to conclude, we do admit that this would be an incredibly hilarious way in which for it to happen. How do you top the sheer ridiculousness of everything that happened involving the Russell Crowe auction and now this? Basically, in our mind it is borderline impossible to surpass any of this. It’s hilarious, irreverent, and virtually everything that we’ve come to love about this show.

Yet, it’s also not the end of the road, despite what Oliver may have professed. HBO recently renewed Last Week Tonight until 2020, which means that if he were to quit now the network would be very unhappy on the other side of it. We definitely think that there is a lot more gas left in the tank for this series and we’re more than excited to see what is going to be coming up on the other side of all of this craziness. Heck, we’re specifically excited to just see how Oliver manages to back his way out from under this situation. There is a slight air of continuity with this series where the story isn’t often told in just a linear fashion. Things do tend to carry on and progress from one subject to the next.
