Timeless season 2: #RenewTimeless gets promoted before latest episode
This morning, we woke up to see that the #RenewTimeless hashtag was officially promoted by the writers on Twitter leading up to the new episode entitled “The Day Reagan Was Shot.” This is a pretty-brilliant move by them to get the news out there that this is a show worthy of being brought back for another season. While the ball is ultimately in NBC’s court to make the renewal happen, you want to increase your odds however much you can.
What creating this hashtag ultimately does is give the entire fan base a sense of unity, that this is the hashtag that they should use tonight and also however many like-minded Clockblockers are out there working with the same unified goal. We don’t always think that promoting tweets works but in this instance, it’s one of the best ways to promote the renewal effort off-network that you are going to possibly find.
The timing of it also could not be better, given that this episode tonight really is the most important one for the renewal effort. With upfronts coming for the major networks in a little bit over a week, this is clearly the time in which we are probably going to see a whole flurry of renewals / cancellations announced. If Timeless posts its biggest live+same-day ratings in weeks, we do think that there’s a better chance we’ll get some good news. It really is a toss-up right now, but remember this — history has been made before with the series coming back from the dead. Why not give it a whirl a second time?
