Outlander notes: See more from Sam Heughan’s Adventure Show special
In a post on Twitter (see below), the series first confirmed that the special, which features Heughan on a hike with Cameron McNeish discussing his love of nature, is going to air at 8:00 p.m. local time on May 16. It also offers up some other different viewing options if you find yourself in the UK eager see Sam in some form before Outlander season 4 airs this fall. (We understand that, given that it is such a long break in between seasons.)
As for other countries, there will be worldwide viewing options beginning the following day. While we don’t have too many specifics as of yet regarding that, we’ll be sure to have an update once more is actually available. (Personally, we’re just hoping that the BBC will release some additional videos of the appearance worldwide to making viewing it online easy.)
While we all collectively wait, why not just go ahead and check out a new sneak peek for this episode? If you look below, you can see Heughan recounting one of his first experiences mountain-climbing (it didn’t go quite as he hoped) to go along with how filming Outlander in Scotland allowed him to come to love the geography and nature even more than he did before. Much of what Sam does away from the show, whether it be My Peak Challenge or his line of outdoor wear with Barbour, is linked to nature and being out in the elements. Even with Outlander itself Sam films many scenes out on location, taking on at times difficult conditions.
Sam will remain in Scotland filming the fourth season of the show for at least the next month or so, and in that time hopefully get can enjoy a little more of a beautiful spring. After that, hopefully he will be back in Scotland filming the fifth season at some point this fall. There is no official renewal as of yet; once that happens, we’re sure that things insofar as filming timelines go will become a little bit clearer.
