Poldark season 5 renewal official; see Eleanor Tomlinson’s message
This news was first announced in a new video (and CarterMatt has that for you below) courtesy of series star Eleanor Tomlinson, which was shared leading up to the BFI screening of the first episode of season 4. This renewal is something that has been discussed in many circles for quite some time, with both Tomlinson and her co-star Aidan Turner each saying that they would be keen to do at least one more season of the series. You can argue as to whether or not there is enough material to do another season after this (we would say that there is), but for now, let’s just be happy that we are getting to this point in the story!
Poldark of course is a rather enormous hit in Great Britain, but beyond that it is also enormously popular all over the world. The series airs on PBS in the United States and we have a pretty good feeling that we’re going to see season 5 make its way stateside not too long after it arrives in Great Britain. For now, we are projecting that the fifth season will premiere on the BBC in 2019; the premiere times have fluctuated too much at the moment for us to have confidence on a specific window of time. What really matters more than anything else is the simple fact that the series is coming back; everything else is gravy and can be figured out down the road.
Poldark tells the story of Ross Poldark (Turner) and many other characters living in Cornwall at a time of great political and personal turmoil. It is an epic tale of perseverance, love, overcoming obstacles, and embracing the beauty of the world around you. There are few other shows on television quite like it. Its music, cinematography, and performances are all on another level. It takes you away to another time and allows you to fully immerse yourself into the rolling hills and rocky coastlines.
