NCIS season 15 episode 22 preview: Pauley Perrette leaving in ‘Two Steps Back’
The title for this episode is “Two Steps Back” and when it comes to the story, it’s going to be a continuation of sorts of what we saw with “One Step Forward” this week. Signs point to this one being emotional, nostalgic, and also funny at the same time. Abby is a character who has always been a source of joy for the series and with that in mind, we’re hoping that it is a particularly-joyful exit (well as joyful as losing Abby can possibly be).
The NCIS season 15 episode 22 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below does offer a little more insight into the mission of the week — something that, in turn, could end up playing a role in Perrette’s big farewell:
“Two Steps Back” – When evidence reveals an NCIS team member is a hitman’s latest target, the team must search through old case files to determine who is seeking vengeance, on NCIS, Tuesday, May 8 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. This is the final episode for series regular Pauley Perrette.

At the moment, it is fair to wonder if Abby is the person who is being targeted by said hitman, but at the same time aren’t there many other possibilities here? Signs point towards this exit being one that could in theory give us a chance to see Abby again in the future — it’s certainly far too early at the moment to speculate as to whether or not that will happen, but it’s something to keep in the back of your mind.
One other thing to remember here is simply this: While this may be the final episode for Perrette as a series regular, this is not the final episode of NCIS season 15. There are two more installments coming after the conclusion to this one and while Abby’s farewell is the most important episode of the season, the finale will likely bring some big moments too.
