Elementary season 6 premiere review: Who is Michael, really?
To go along with all of this, we also got a sense of how Sherlock is coping with his insecurity that he is struggling with at present: The state of his mind. This is a man who is starting to question his capacity and his capabilities in the field. He’s more reliant on Watson and others than ever before. As for the brownstone, it’s fair to say now that it is on the mend. This is a chance for Sherlock to move forward and become more mindful. Watson’s doing her part in order to take care of him both on the job, and also with his ailment.
He’s also got someone new in his life in the form of Michael (Desmond Harrington), a member of AA who has his own past with the organization. Is he a friend, a foe, or someone else entirely? That’s something we thought we were going to have to ponder for most of the season but instead, the closing minutes set that up: He’s a man who was digging an unmarked grave for someone. Who did he kill and why did he do it? Our easy theory right now is that this is a man who is a serial killer of sorts and is getting close to Sherlock to ensure that he forever has a blind spot towards him.
Wouldn’t it be funny if Harrington, who appeared on Dexter, actually is this show’s version of Dexter Morgan?
As for the case this week, it started with a reformed party girl heiress and a sex tape. However, as things went along it turned into so much more. This was a trademark Elementary case with fascinating evidence-collecting and a twist ending that maybe some out there could have predicted. This is where this series really shines: It’s the nuts and bolts of creating a great mystery week after week. The writers rarely rely on anything else.

CarterMatt Verdict
In between Michael, Sherlock’s ailment, and the mystery, we’re more than thrilled that Elementary is back — not only that, but we are excited to cover this the remainder of the season.
