Good Girls season 2 renewal hopes, story expectations
While a Good Girls season 2 is not officially decided upon at the moment ending Monday night’s finale, all signs do point towards there being something resembling good news in the future. While the ratings for the series have not been necessarily outstanding, they have been solid and have not dropped off over the past few months. What that serves as an indication of at the moment is that viewers are interested in the show and, as a result of that, will continue to watch it in the event that it is picked up.
So while we have some excitement and hopes regarding the future of the series (you can read a little bit more about that over at the link here), does show executive producer Jenna Bans feel the same way? Speaking to TVLine, here is some of what Bans had to say on the subject of what she and the rest of the writers are planning:
“We just pitched Season 2 to [NBC’s] Powers That Be on Friday and everyone seemed really engaged and enthusiastic about it.
“We’re pretty excited about the places we’re taking these three women … It’s a darkly funny mix of the unexpected and also certain things our audience seems to be craving.”
Obviously, one of the luxuries of doing only ten episodes for your first season is that you leave a lot of room open for some other stories in the future. It’s an exciting prospect, and one that hopefully the writers of Good Girls are going to be able to deliver on. There should be some news on the show’s future at some point in the coming weeks but for now, having optimism seems to be the right way to go about things.
