Should Absentia season 2 have more than 10 episodes?
Now that we’ve laid all of those cards on the table it feels like the right time to pose the next pressing question: Should Absentia season 2 be more than 10 episodes? Is that something that should be on the mind for most of the producers involved?
There were many things that were wonderful about season 1, but we would understand the critique that the series was over too quickly. It’s an easy show to get hooked on and with that in mind, it is very easy to blow through the entire season in just a day or two. Once you’re fully immersed and all-in, the show comes to a close in an extremely short time.
There are obvious advantages to Absentia having a story of this particular length, with the best one being that it is economical. There are so many other series out there that are filled to the brim with unnecessary details and story; there is actually something rather refreshing about having a series that is a little more contained in nature and has a clearly defined beginning, middle, and end without a lot of other extraneous stuff getting in the way. It gives it that quality where it feels almost as though every episode blows by in a split-second.
We suppose that from a cast perspective, there may also be something appealing about doing only ten episodes — it makes the schedule open enough to do other things during some of the off months.
The case for more episodes, on the other hand, is really quite simple: It gives us an opportunity to have more of a good thing, which we certainly think is something that many out there want. Who doesn’t want to have more great episodes of a show that is already so great?
In the end, having more episodes for a show like Absentia is a fun thing to think about and also something that, theoretically, is possible. For now, though, we trust the team behind the scenes to be able to tell the story that makes the most sense regardless of its length. If that means ten episodes, that’s wonderful — the same goes for if it is eleven or if it is nine.
Do you think that Absentia season 2 should run for a longer period of time? Be sure to share some of your thoughts on that subject now in the comments!
