Siren episode 6 ratings drop — but there may be reasons for it
Let’s kick off things here with some of the bad news, just for the sake of getting some of that out of the way. The Freeform drama on Thursday matched its lowest ratings of the season in a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and then also around 587,000 viewers. That’s not really enough to hurt its season 2 chances, as we still believe that it’s a lock to come back for more. Now, let’s get to why this probably isn’t a huge warning sign that Siren ratings are going to drop for many weeks to come. Almost everything was down in the ratings on Thursday night for a couple of different reasons. For starters, the NFL draft scored enormous ratings, as it often does on Thursday night — for some reason, there’s something enormously captivating for many people about watching names get called out without any actual athletic competition. Siren may have had a little competition from that, but then also that we’re nearing the summer months and inevitably, there are fewer viewers around then. The fact that it’s been as solid as it’s been in the ratings with its premiere date in mind is actually rather impressive.
We’ll continue to monitor the ratings for the rest of the season, or at least until there is an official renewal out there. We anticipate for now the numbers either staying the same or improving next week.
