MacGyver season 2 episode 23 (finale) preview: Who is Oversight?

Are you ready for MacGyver season 2 episode 23 to arrive, or at least as ready as you are ever going to be? We hope so, given that fact that we are gearing up now for the most important episode of the year: The finale. Not only that, but potentially the big reveal of Mac’s father for the first time. The title here in “MacGyver + MacGyver” seems to strongly indicate that the elder Mac is going to be appearing in the episode, and beyond that, there’s a character in Oversight who is a good candidate to be the man in disguise.

Why is that? We’ll let the finale synopsis speak in some ways for itself:

“MacGyver + MacGyver” – MacGyver gets a shocking surprise when he tries to tell Matty that he’s quitting the Phoenix Foundation, on the second season finale of MACGYVER, Friday, May 4 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Tate Donovan guest stars as Oversight, a man with a history with Matty.

Obviously, we know that Mac’s father has a history with Matty that has been documented. The big problem with this assumption is that there are plenty of expresses out there about people who assume things. (Let’s just say that we’re not altogether confident that this assessment is going to be an altogether accurate one when we actually see this episode in action.) MacGyver is a show that does love to pull out some surprises! One thing we do know is that we love Tate Donovan and even if Oversight isn’t Mac’s dad, we do hope that he is a character who we get a chance to see around in the future.

No matter what happens, the good news is that we know that there will be a season 3 on the other side of the finale. With that in mind, we’re not going to be altogether upset if there is some sort of epic cliffhanger at the end of the episode. As long at we get an exciting, dramatic, and action-packed finale with a little bit of fun mixed in there, it feels like we’re going to be satisfied.
