Blue Bloods season 8 episode 20 video: Frank, Henry’s debate over Jamie

Blue Bloods season 8

There are a number of different questions worth asking on Blue Bloods season 8 episode 20, but one of the biggest ones has to do with Jamie Reagan’s job status. Could he ever become a sergeant someday?

We know that we’ve seen so far on the series that this is not something that Jamie has necessarily fought for. He doesn’t really seem himself as a sergeant — instead, his goal is mostly to just be the best police officer that he can. He likes his role, he likes working with a partner, and he likes being out in the streets. Yet, Frank and Henry do want to see more from him, and that is probably because they both went so far up the New York City police food chain. They’ve made it to a point now in their own respective careers where they are at the top of the ladder and they are absolutely aware of how great it would be to eventually see Jamie do something in the same vein. (Personally, we do think that Jamie would be a good commissioner — he has a good grasp on morality and also doing the right thing.)

Here is the thing when it comes to Jamie potentially getting a promotion — if he does get it someday, he can still be out in the field. Not all that much could change for him in terms of him doing some of what he loves to do. One of the best things about him taking the sergeant’s exam is that it gives him options — it allows him to have different options when it comes to his future.

Will Jamie make a decision at the end of the episode, let alone the end of the season? It’s possible, but at the moment it is probably a little too early to tell. With stories on Blue Bloods over the years, one of the best things that we’ve learned is that it’s really not a good idea to rush anything.
