Heartland season 12 renewal official at CBC
So why has Heartland managed to have such a long life whereas many other shows tend to fizzle out over the course of just a few years? There are a few different reasons for it, but a lot of them start with the show’s audience. This is a rustic family drama that is really meant to appeal to viewers who are in the heartland and relate in some ways to the stories and the struggles of some of these characters. It’s appealing to viewers in some of the prairie provinces, and maybe also some in places like Toronto and Montreal who do have such a keen interest in how the other half lives. That is in part a big reason as to why Canada is so fascinating as a country — it has such a diverse range of people with different experiences.
Heartland is also a show aided by a large and fantastic ensemble, and with that in mind, it does help the show shift and change over time. It can adapt to any changes that come up better than most just because the world of the series is perhaps bigger than any individual character.
Filming on Heartland season 12 is going to be starting up before too long and while there is no official season 12 premiere date at the moment, our personal expectation is that we are going to get a chance to see the series on the air in Canada at some point later this year. As for whether or not it will be anywhere near as soon in America, that’s just something that we’ll have to wait and see on for the time being.
