NCIS season 15 episode 23 spoilers: ‘Fallout,’ the first story without Abby

There is something about NCIS season 15 episode 23, entitled “Fallout,” that is going to be strange almost right away. This is the first episode of the entire series without Pauley Perrette on board as the character of Abby. She’s been an integral part of the series for a solid decade and a half and it’s with that in mind that we find the notion of not having her around to be rather distressing. We’re sure that the show does have a plan in place, though, and some of that could start to surface over the course of this episode.

For now, though, let’s do what we can in sharing the official NCIS season 15 episode 23 synopsis courtesy of CBS:

“Fallout” – While Gibbs attends the memorial service for a friend who was lost at sea, he discovers that the deceased, Navy Captain Phillip Brooks (Don Lake), has been hiding in a fallout shelter after his boat was attacked and he swam to shore, on NCIS, Tuesday, May 15 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT), on the CBS Television Network. Susan Walters guest stars as Marcy Brooks, the Commander’s wife.

This episode is going to be hugely important for many different reasons, whether it be the first without Abby or it being a very personal case for Gibbs that takes a very surprising twist along the way. It’s not altogether clear if this is going to play into the season 15 finale airing on May 22 but we would hardly be surprised if it was. This is a season that probably needs an exciting ending given that they have just lost a beloved cast member. With that in mind, the writers do need to figure out a way to establish some sort of big tease for the future. If you don’t have that, you in turn automatically run an enormous risk that viewers bail since the show that they’ve come to know and love over time is gone.

As for one of the episode’s biggest guest stars, you may know Susan Walters for playing the part of Carol Lockwood on The Vampire Diaries and then also Natalie Martin on Teen Wolf.
