Suits season 7 finale: Should Darvey (finally) get together?
At the moment, it’s clear of where the two stand — they are both single and with that, actually available to be together. Their feelings are arguably also more open than they have been in a rather long time. Harvey knows how Donna feels about him stemming from that kiss, and we also do think that he does admit to himself that there is something there for him too. They have been explored in some shape or form before and they could be starting to blossom again now. The two had a drink together at the end of this past episode, and to escalate things further they are now preparing for one of the most romantic situations possible: A wedding. Not only that, but this is a wedding for two people they know rather well in Mike and Rachel. They care about them and we know that Mike and Rachel want the best for the two of them. Weddings are usually a place that kicks emotions into high gear, so it’s possible that this event could move Harvey and Donna forward as well.
This wedding would give them a chance to kick off something that could be explored more in season 8. Not only that, but at the time in which this finale was written the show’s season 8 renewal was not official. Maybe writing in something romantic for them here was a good way to offer some closure in the event that this was the end of the road for the series.
As it is, Darvey may be the best way to lead into something more for season 8 that continues to keep fans invested. Without Patrick J. Adams or Meghan Markle as the part of the cast, the producers are going to have to look elsewhere in order to keep viewers interested. The prospect of these two characters together may be just the thing in which to do that. There’s a lot of interest in seeing how they work and act while also in a romantic relationship. Is anything different, or are the two so firmly established as colleagues at this point that they can separate this from how they feel about each other off of the job?
One way or another, we should get more opportunities to think about this when Suits season 8 premieres on USA a little bit later this summer.
