Outlander notes: A convention’s end; Caitriona Balfe’s journey back

Outlander season 4

Welcome to our afternoon edition of Outlander notes, where we’ve got a few different things that we want to touch on.

Today, in some ways, seems to be a day of endings when it comes to events tied to the show in one way or another. For example, the Sasnak City convention in Kansas City is winding down and judging from what we’ve seen online, a very good time was had and many of the cast members have been kind and generous towards to organizers. This is a big year for Outlander conventions with ones coming both overseas and in America later this summer. (There’s a notable one happening in Las Vegas after filming is over in the summer.)

There were many cast members from this current season present there — personally, we were the most excited to see Ed Speleers make the trip and hope very much that he is as awful as possible as Stephen Bonnet — we mean that in the very best way. We know that he’s meant to have a bit more charm than Black Jack but he is one of those characters we absolutely want to hate.

Also, judging from what we’ve seen on social media Speleers may have some of the best socks out there.

Caitriona Balfe returns to Scotland – Mere hours after completing the London Marathon (read more about that over here), Balfe was back at the airport waiting to head up north to resume filming on Monday. She already earned a ton of respect just for doing the marathon alone, but she’s got a quicker turnaround for work than probably the vast majority of the runners in attendance.

Hopefully, the work that she’s doing on Monday is especially exciting and meaty to make up for having to make the quick jaunt back up to the set!

Happy Earth Day, everyone

Consider the breathtaking photo below from executive producer Matthew B. Roberts a reminder to be good to the planet and to do your best taking care of it. We’ve only got one earth, and one of the reasons why Scotland is so pristine a location is because of the care and protection that goes into its wilderness.
