Unsung Hero Showdown: Felicity Smoak, Regina Mills advance to semifinals
The latest round of voting within our Unsung Hero Showdown article series is now complete with that in mind, there is a lot to be excited about if you are a big fan of either Felicity Smoak or Regina Mills!
These two characters each advanced to the next round of our ongoing poll series and when you look at the vote tallies alone, this was really not all that close. The characters from Arrow and Once Upon a Time each dominated with a rather large percentage of the overall vote — the final result was actually pretty close between the two, but given that there are TWO characters advancing to the semifinals they were each able to advance.
It’s not too much of a surprise to see either one of these characters move on when you consider 1) the love that there is for both of these shows from some of their fans and 2) how much they each mean to their respective shows. With Regina we have what we like to consider a near-constant reminder that redemption is possible almost no matter who you are. She’s become heroic thanks to the love of those close to her and a better understanding of her own potential. Meanwhile, Felicity has helped to make it possible for anyone to be a hero — it’s not just about those who sport costumes and spend their nights heading out into the city to fight bad guys.
So where do things go from here in the tournament? That’s rather simple — Felicity and Regina join Alicia from Fear the Walking Dead and also Nicole from Wynonna Earp in the semifinals, which will begin formally on Tuesday, April 24. Over the course of a few days those six will compete in head-to-head showdowns before the finals begin on Saturday, April 28. As we start to narrow things down in the quest to find the #1 Unsung Hero on television, you better be prepared for things to heat up!
Before the semifinals begin, though, there is one more preliminary round of the Showdown to get through. That kicks off later today.
