Blindspot season 3, Agents of SHIELD season 5 ratings fall as renewal decisions loom
Overall, the latest episode of the former series starring Jaimie Alexander ended up generating a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic on Friday, which marks it as the least-watched episode of the entire season so far. While the move to Friday nights is certainly a big part of the decline, remember here that MacGyver has consistently drawn a 0.8 or higher for most of the season. CBS shows year after year that it is possible in order to find some sort of proper audience on Friday nights. However, other networks seem to think that they can move shows there and have ratings come easily to them when clearly, that is not always the case.
As for Agents of SHIELD, the news really isn’t any better. Maybe you can blame the polarizing Ruby Hale storyline for the recent drop in viewers if you want, but we don’t think that it is anything more than just more viewer fatigue — something that inevitably is going to happen even with a show with an extremely loyal audience. Both NBC and ABC have a little more time to make their decisions on both of these shows and we’re absolutely worried about both of them. While we do think there’s a shot that they could both come back for an additional season, the ratings at present are not doing much when it comes to instilling confidence.
