There’s a part of The Resident episode 11 on Fox Monday night that is going to make many people out there upset — and it pertains to the subject of Nurse Nic Nevin.
In the sneak peek below from the episode (via TV Guide), you can get a pretty good sense as to why Nic, and in turn us as viewers, are so upset. After all, Nic is being told that she can’t see anymore patients! Lily’s family has filed a lawsuit against the hospital after her death, and we certainly know that she’s not responsible for it and know that Nic probably feels the same way. The clear issue here is getting some of these hard-headed people at the hospital to understand that and the autopsy results are not even in.
It seems as though there could be some other suspensions that come in as a result of the suit but, for now, it appears mostly that Nic is being set to take the fall for the actions of others. It’s easy for the hospital to suspend her rather than someone like Dr. Lane Hunter, who holds a lot more power but is actually more responsible for what happened. The problem for Nic is clearly going to be her trying to figure out a way in which to convince other people to see much of what she’s talking about.
Over the course of this episode we hope that there will be a chance for Nic to make it clear that she’s not guilty of what she’s being accused of, but we’re also rather doubtful. There is still that image in our mind from some recent promos showing her in an orange prison jumpsuit. Even if we are confident in the end that she is going to be cleared of any wrongdoing, all signs do point to things getting so much worse for her before they ever get better.
