Agents of SHIELD season 5 episode 19 preview: Infinity War is near

Agents of SHIELD season 4 episode 19

When Agents of SHIELD season 5 episode 19 airs on ABC April 27, we’re going to be at the start of what is a brand-new crisis. Ruby is gone (seemingly), and with that, the show can start on something different for its final arc of the season / possibly the series. The big challenge with that, though, is that this episode is happening on the same day that Avengers: Infinity War is premiering in theaters.

Basically, there’s a pretty good chance that the ratings for Agents of SHIELD could be down just because there are so many people off seeing the latest Avengers movie. We have to see just how the series is connected to that movie, as well — they can’t tie this week into that too much because of the fact that the majority of viewers probably won’t have seen the movie yet. At the same time, there may be echoes of it. That’s certainly suggested by the promo below for this episode.

Unfortunately, the official season 5 episode 17 synopsis isn’t really offering you too much help in terms of giving you scoop:

The team finds themselves trapped and under siege at the Lighthouse.

Like we mentioned, this is Infinity War time. ABC’s not giving you much, though we don’t exactly think that they were looking to give all that much away in the first place, though. This is just the sort of show that they operate and they don’t love to dish out much in the way of scoop in advance. We just hope that this storyline is a little more unifying to much of the audience — while the start of this season was largely praised, we do think that the second part of it fell a little bit. Ultimately, we would say that the show hasn’t match what it had with the Framework storyline yet, which to us was a highpoint overall for the series and one of the best for the MCU as a whole.
