Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 22 preview: Duke’s big story

Hawaii Five-0 season 8 episode 22 is going to be premiering on CBS in one week’s time on April 27, and signs point towards it utilizing some of its supporting cast in ways that we haven’t seen so far this season. After all, this is going to be the biggest story of the year to date for Dennis Chun as Duke is thrust into the spotlight for a difficult, personal case. He does something that falls outside of the police letter of the law; yet, at the same time it should allow for a certain degree of sympathy. After all, we imagine that there are several other characters out there who would’ve done the same exact thing were they to be in his shoes. The motivations for some of his actions are steeped mostly in his desire to help his granddaughter in need.

Below, the MacGyver season 8 episode 22 synopsis offers up a little bit more news when it comes to what lies ahead:

“Kōpī wale nō i ka i’a a ‘eu nō ka ilo.” – Five-0 must help Duke after he is forced to steal crucial evidence from the police locker in exchange for his kidnapped granddaughter. Also, Jerry goes undercover at a mental health facility in order to solve a murder, on HAWAII FIVE-0, Friday, April 27 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

(“Kōpī wale nō i ka i’a a ‘eu nō ka ilo.” is Hawaiian for “Though the Fish is Well Salted, the Maggots Crawl.”)

Obviously, there’s a lot to love here just on the basis of Jerry going undercover alone — that’s something we pegged in our season 8 wishlist earlier this year and it does mark the perfect evolution for this character. He’s become a trusted member of the show team over the season and with that in mind, it makes sense that the team test him with this sort of case now. He has to be able to stay in character, while also figuring out a way to solve this crime under watchful eyes. This combination of things is no easy task.
