Sanvers, Maggie Sawyer fans fly banner over Supergirl season 3 set

Sanvers

Fans of Sanvers and the Maggie Sawyer character are among the most passionate out there for SupergirlWith that in mind, it comes as no surprise that they have taken to the skies to show their support.

As you can see in the post on Twitter below, a banner flew over the studio in which Supergirl films in the Vancouver area today reading “Bring Maggie Back” alongside the hashtag #SanversMatters. It’s a public call to the producers of the show to find a way to include more of the character (played by Floriana Lima), who has been featured over the past two seasons. Lima has not appeared since the first batch of season 3 episodes and the demand for more hasn’t gone away … and we don’t expect that to change. The relationship between Maggie and Alex Danvers was one of the most passionate and supportive in the show’s history; knowing that Maggie was going to depart the series in advance did not ease some of the pain in which people felt about it after the fact. She was beloved, and beyond just that, she was an inspiration to so many out there all over the world.

This is the second big news related to Sanvers fans and their passion this week — previously, we reported about the impressive totals they have accumulated in a charitable campaign for the True Colors Fund.

When could a return happen for Maggie? There has not been much definitive at the moment about a reprisal in season 3, unfortunately, and we know that Lima is busy — she has a role coming up on The Punisher season 2 and is set to appear in the finale of Lethal Weapon as Miranda Riggs, who she has played off and on from the beginning. Supergirl will wrap up its current season in June.

Our philosophy towards a Maggie return is ultimately rather simple: She’s a part of this world and an integral part of the lives of many fans. Even if there are no signs of an appearance now, it may not always be that way. Both Lima and producers have showed an openness to return in the past; so long as the desire is there, though could be a way in which to work something out. We will, as always, keep you posted.

For now, Sanvers fans, celebrate your achievement.
