NCIS season 15 episode 22 spoilers: Pauley Perrette’s final episode

All things must come to an end, and for NCIS season 15 episode 22, we are getting ready to see the final curtain drop for Pauley Perrette and her character of Abby Sciutto. One of the most popular and recognizable characters in modern TV history is leaving at the conclusion of “Two Steps Back,” an episode that has a somewhat-foreboding title and is airing on Tuesday, May 8 on CBS.

In the event that you did not read it previously, “Two Steps Back” is the second of a two-part story for Abby that begins on May 1 with “One Step Forward.” That episode features an Abby story that, on the surface, seems fun as she has an opportunity to take an NCIS team member out to a five-star restaurant located in an igloo — basically, something that sounds perfectly in line with what we know about Abby. As for how that translates into an exit story, that’s something that we’re going to have to wait and see.

Below, the NCIS season 15 episode 22 synopsis does offer up a small sense as to what some of the danger in this episode is going to be:

“Two Steps Back” – When evidence reveals an NCIS team member is a hitman’s latest target, the team must search through old case files to determine who is seeking vengeance, on NCIS, Tuesday, May 8 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. This is the final episode for series regular Pauley Perrette.

We’re keeping our hopes for the grand finale of Abby’s NCIS story pretty simple: An opportunity to see the show really celebrate the character for who she is and what she’s meant to both the team and also viewers. We do think that it makes perfect sense to have her exit be before the finale, mostly because in doing it this way, you can spend more time celebrating the character without also having to cram in here some sort of finale story and/or cliffhanger. Much of that can be saved for the final two episodes, including looking towards whoever could replace the character — at least in terms of the profession. No one can replace what Abby herself brought to the series.
