Ellen Pompeo describes Grey’s Anatomy season 14 finale in simple terms
Just in case you haven’t heard the headlines, this finale is going to mark the final appearances of both Sarah Drew and Jessica Capshaw on the series as April and Arizona. There has yet to be any clear indication as to how either character is going to be written out but with this being Grey’s Anatomy, you almost have to expect the worst for these characters while hoping for the best. We also know that the title for the finale is “All of Me,” which is the title for a John Legend song and a particularly emotional one at that. There’s a reason to shudder somewhat based on that.
Finally, we come bearing this — a message from Ellen Pompeo on Twitter that gives us a perfectly good sense of how she describes this particular finale.
Of course, the words “not easy” can mean a number of different things, and not necessarily just that bad things happen to some popular characters. It’s likely not easy just from the standpoint alone of losing two beloved members of the cast. Drew and Capshaw are people that Pompeo has worked with for almost a decade and they’re key cogs in the Grey’s Anatomy work environment. While there will still be opportunities for everyone to see each other again outside of work, it’s not going to be the same dynamic that it once was.
Hopefully, at some point before the finale airing there will be some clearer opportunities to order for us to properly prepare for what’s coming up. At the moment, the only thing that is clear is the same thing that always is with season-ending episodes for the ABC show: You have to prepare for plenty of tears and hope that a pot of gold resides on the other side of the rainbow.
