Black Lightning season 2 premiere date hopes for Cress Williams, cast
What we do know at the moment is that there will, in fact, be another season of the CW drama series starring Cress Williams. The show was one of many renewed earlier this year by the network, with solid ratings being the major reason why. It’s been able to develop a solid audience over the course of the past twelve episodes and there’s a pretty good reason to think that it should be able to sustain itself coming up.
As to whether or not Black Lightning season 2 could run longer than the thirteen episodes it did this year, there’s certainly a good reason to think that it could. As for whether or not it should, however, that is an entirely different story. What we hope that The CW is realizing this season with Riverdale is that sometimes, less really is more and you don’t want to have so many episodes that it ends up diluting some of the ones that you have. There is certainly some filler as it is within some of the other shows that are within the Arrowverse.
In getting back to the premiere date now, that is totally up in the air right now for a few different reasons.
1. The CW wanting to capitalize off of the show’s popularity – It is certainly feasible that they may want more episodes on the air sooner rather than later as to not lose some of their momentum.
2. The timeslot – With The CW starting to program Sundays this fall, we can easily see them deciding that a great way to add to the mix of shows is if they choose to bring in another series a la Black Lightning to a new night to help hold it up.
3. The episode count – Obviously, if someone at the network does decide that they want to give season 2 somewhere in the 18-23 episode range, they’re going to have to premiere it in the fall in order for it to be done in the spring.
