Will Scorpion season 5 be Team Centipede vs. Scorpion?

Moving into Scorpion season 5, provided that there is a Scorpion season 5, we certainly have many different questions.

The biggest one, for now, is this: Could we see two different teams at work if the show is brought back? In the closing minutes tonight we were introduced to Team Centipede, a new creation featuring Happy, Toby, Sylvester, and Paige. In the wake of Walter’s lie and the aftermath of it, they’ve all gone off and created their own group. Meanwhile, Walter is now working with both Cabe and Florence on Scorpion, which certainly a “leaner” operation than he has had in the past.

While we hate the idea of Waige breaking up and for so many different members of the team getting in a fight, we do love the sort of drama that could come with two teams doing battle with one another for supremacy. This would introduce a refreshing new dynamic to some of the cases for a brief period of time.

Now that we’ve said this, there is of course a pretty significant caveat that we should throw into the equation: We don’t necessarily want to see the team divided up in a way that lasts longer than a few episodes. This feels like it could be a fun temporary experiment that lasts for a few episodes but then, on the other side of that, you should get back to doing what the show does best: Great, exciting missions featuring the whole team working together. We really just hope that the series has that chance, given that at the moment the renewal status is still very much unclear. What we do like about the Team Centipede twist is that it gives the writers something to tease to CBS in regards to get another batch of episodes.
