Unsung Hero Showdown: Who is advancing to the semifinals?

Unsung Heroes

For everyone out there who is closely following CarterMatt’s Unsung Hero Showdown to go alongside some of our feature articles, we come bearing good news! The first round of voting in our polls is officially over and with that, the results are in.

If you recall, two of the six original candidates (Alex Danvers, Alicia Clark, Iris West-Allen, Magnus Bane, Nicole Haught, and Zari Tomaz) were set to advance to the next round based on your votes. So, who is set to move on? We’ve got that information for you below…

Alicia Clark – Alycia Debnam-Carey’s character from Fear the Walking Dead was pretty far and away the victor in this round, which means that she is sitting pretty now moving into the next phase of the competition. As we wrote in our original piece about the character, Alicia is someone very easy to root for on the strength of the powerful, emotional journey that she has been on to date. She’s hardly the character she was in the pilot and that’s exciting from the vantage point of who she could be moving forward.

Nicole Haught – This Wynonna Earp character, as played beautifully by Kat Barrell, showed tremendous amounts of heart, power, and care through her story to date. She brought another sort of character for viewers to root for, both in terms of stopping demons and the like in the field and also with her relationship with Waverly. To think that we’re only two seasons in now, given that there is still plenty of time left to expand this journey outward and to get to know this character even more. (Read our full feature now.)

So what’s next?

Think in terms of Tuesday, April 24. That is when the semifinals are officially going to begin. We’ve got another round of voting happening starting later today, when two more semifinalists will be chosen over the days ahead.
