Outlander notes: Multiple favorite moments; new fan convention panel

Outlander season 4

Welcome to another edition of Outlander notes! As per usual we’ve got a number of different show-related highlights to get through in this article, so let’s dive right in by sharing what are a series of different favorite moments. (Most of these are coming out in promotion of the season 3 DVD, which officially launched in America this past week.)

Let’s begin here with none other than show executive producer Ronald D. Moore, who had the following to say on the subject in a new interview with Parade:

“I have three favorite moments. When Jamie’s riding away from his son Willie and he won’t look back. That’s one of my favorites of the whole season. Geillis coming out of the pool of blood is No. 2, and then the look on Claire’s face when Jamie faints. It’s priceless. Like, “I’m so happy to see you. What did you just do?” Those are my three favorite moments.”

Of course, Moore is doing the thing here where you ask for his favorite moment and, in turn, he ends up giving you several — not that we really mind all that much given the ones that he chose. The Geillis one is the most surprising, if for no other reason than that it was the one that was the most difficult to anticipate just because there wasn’t all that much for reference out there within the books.

Meanwhile, author Diana Gabaldon notes in a video below via iTunes that her favorite episode is “Of Lost Things” from season 3, a wonderful choice given that it may be our personal Sam Heughan episode through the entire series to date. There’s so much power and emotion packed within this episode that it was almost worthy of a season in its own right.

New Outlander fan panel

For those of you who are heading over to Denver Comic-Con (which is happening from June 15 to June 17), there is a way for you to celebrate your love of the show while enjoying the convention! Desirre Andrews of A Dram of Outlander, Karen Daugherty of Outlander Medicine, and Courtney Williams of Outlander Behind The Scenes are all collectively hosting “An Outlandish Outlander Fan Panel,” designed specifically with the goal of having some fun discussion about the series leading up to season 4’s premiere this fall. It’s meant to be very audience-participation heavy, so cosplay and questions for discussion are welcome!

Beyond being an insightful panel, this could also be a great opportunity for fans in the Denver area to meet others and become a part of the larger community. In terms of supportive fan groups few compare to what we’ve seen from Outlander over the years. We’ll have more news on the panel in the near future.
