Ozark season 2 premiere date will come after Arrested Development, Jason Bateman says
Series star Jason Bateman was present recently for a Deadline The Contenders panel for his Netflix series, and while there he confirmed that the much-anticipated Arrested Development season 5 is actually going to be coming up before you even get around to the new batch of episodes for his other show. For those of you who love the comedy, odds are that you are probably going to appreciate that he said that this may be the “best year ever” of Arrested Development. That’s a pretty darn big statement but one we are inclined to believe, mostly because this is not something that we’ve heard him say in the past.
One of the other interesting things that we did end up hearing Bateman say regarding the second seas on Ozark is that it is actually being presented a little more as a sequel to what happened the first time around than something meant to directly follow the story of season 1:
“We’re approaching [Ozark] as a 10-chapter movie… the second year is not a completely new story, but it is another single beginning, middle, and end.”
We have to imagine that there are some very strategic advantages from telling the story this way from a storytelling standpoint, with one of the largest ones being that it enables you to have each season be in some ways a final season. If your show ever does end this way, it will for sure be with a fitting conclusion since you are constantly working in the moment. (With this said, it’s hard to imagine Ozark going anywhere in the near future. The show was enormously successful on Netflix and, beyond that, it also has been the subject of a great deal of awards buzz. That’s especially true when it comes to Bateman’s overall performance.
