The Originals season 5 spoilers: Is there a way to help Elijah?

The Originals

The Originals season 5 is finally premiering on The CW after a very long break from the air — with that premiere of course comes expectations, and we know that there are going to be plenty for people to enjoy out there. You have an older version of Hope on the way, a possible relationship between Klaus and Caroline, and of course some sort of mysterious threat that is still bubbling underneath the surface.

But with all of this said, what about Elijah? He’s going to have had an opportunity in the midst of the time jump between seasons to build a life for himself, with the biggest twist being that this is not actually his own life at all. He doesn’t have his memories, and for some of the other characters on the series trying to get them back is going to be a point of great frustration.

For a little more insight regarding this subject, just take a look at what Claire Holt (who plays Rebekah) had to say to TV Guide:

“Rebekah has a hard time understanding how Elijah can’t remember anything at all … There’s a specific episode this season where we’re imploring him to remember and it’s hard. It’s a really hard thing for her to face… This was a pretty traumatic thing for everyone.”

We imagine that the longer the quest to get Elijah’s memory back lasts, the even more traumatic that it is going to be for everyone. After all, these are people who have lived pretty much an eternity with each other and despite everything that they go through, the Mikaelsons do find a way back to each other. Nobody can ultimately relate to their struggles the same exact way and it’s a unique bond.

Obviously, we hope that in due time there is a chance for the old Elijah to return. Can you imagine what the final season of The Originals is like as a whole
