The Originals season 5 promo focuses on the Mikaelsons
This first promo is coming courtesy of TVLine, and within it you can see much of the Mikaelson family in the midst of a big decision — how to reunite, provided of course that they can reunite at all. At the end of season 4 they were forced apart in order to preserve the future. There could be an opportunity for the family to come back together, but doing so could have consequences. With that, they are going to have to be smart about it and pool some of their resources in order to see if there is a way to properly do this.
Beyond just that, this promo does offer you a quick peek at the older version of Hope, a character who now seems to have developed some unique powers. Can she use those in order to save the world, or will those instead be a key component in the Mikaelsons coming together? One way or another, Hope does seem to have a unique role in what’s coming.
Here is the big issue that we have with this clip right now: Calling this a trailer. It’s only 30 seconds long, and with that it feels much more like a promo — hence, why we’re calling it that. We just wish that The CW had done something similar here to what they did with The 100, where they released a trailer that was actually fairly substantial in length and gave us a look at a lot of the different stories that were going to be coming up for these characters. There are many different exciting things about this season, from individual stories to also the return of Candice King as Caroline, that is not really referenced here at all.
