Suits season 8 photo: See Katherine Heigl as Samantha Wheeler
The photo that we have for you below comes courtesy of the former Grey’s Anatomy star’s official Instagram and gives you a sense of one important thing about her character: She is tough. She’s a kick-boxer and, beyond that, she also still does battle within the courtroom. It feels pretty clear that the intention here was for her to be an interesting, multi-faceted character who brings a lot of insight and perspective to the show. She is certainly a new foil for Harvey Specter and should provide some opportunities to shake things up.
Heigl is one of three new series regulars for the eighth season, as she will be working alongside Dule Hill (Alex Williams) and then also Amanda Schull (Katrina Bennett). She is the only new regular with no previous experience on the series. These three are being joined by returning regulars Gabriel Macht (Harvey Specter), Sarah Raffery (Donna Paulsen), and finally, Rick Hoffman (Louis Litt).

Suits is currently airing on USA Wednesday nights, and by the end of this season regulars Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle are both going to depart. There’s a good chance that you will be able to see a wedding between Mike and Rachel by the end and hopefully, to go along with that, also something between Donna and Harvey. We don’t really care what it is so much as it is a chance to see these characters shine in some capacity.
Meanwhile, Suits season 8 featuring Heigl should premiere on USA at some point this summer.
