Empire season 4 episode 13 preview: Cookie helps an old friend

Empire season 4 episode 13 looks like Cookie is not going to be able to take her foot off of the gas. This upcoming episode entitled “Of Hardiness is Mother” is going to be a rough episode for her, largely because of how she is going to find herself: In a position where she feels that she needs to act out after determining that someone needs her. Just in the past couple of weeks we’ve seen Lucious need her and then the company need her. It only makes sense that they go ahead and also add the family onto the list, as well. It’s yet another way to add some further dimension to this series.

Although Lucious pressures Cookie to take it easy, she can’t help but take matters into her own hands when she receives unsettling news about an old friend. Meanwhile, Tiana’s new 20 for 20 single takes off, leading to an unexpected change in her demeanor. Also, Jamal struggles to rebrand his image, Hakeem adopts a new role as musical mentor and Andre recruits Lucious to help him uncover the truth about Eddie’s intentions in the all-new “Of Hardiness is Mother” episode of EMPIRE airing Wednesday, April 18 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. When it comes to some of the other characters in this episode we do feel for Jamal, mostly because for the entirety of this series it has felt like he has been almost-constantly pulled in different directions in terms of what sort of artist he wants to be. It also doesn’t feel like that is going to change in the near future.

Meanwhile, it seems as though doing this sort of work could actually be the best thing for Hakeem, given that it would take him outside of his own little sphere, even if it was for just a short period of time, and force him to put more of the focus on someone else instead.
