Roseanne honors Glenn Quinn following death with tribute card
Unfortunately, there was no opportunity to bring back Glenn Quinn, who played the part of Mark Healy on the original version of the show. He was beloved despite the character’s dim-wittedness and he went on to have a career on a few other shows following the end of the sitcom.
Unfortunately, back in 2002 Quinn was found dead in what the Los Angeles Times reported to be an accidental heroin overdose. That was a tragic end to what was a very promising life, and his death may have been one of the saddest aspects that existed within the development of the project.
In the closing minutes of Tuesday’s episode, production chose to honor him with a title card for all of his contributions. It was a worthy tribute to a man who appeared in more than 70 episodes of the original series.
Speaking about this subject to PopSugar before the start of the revival, Roseanne Barr herself made it clear that honoring the actor was important to what they were doing:
“We all missed Glenn so much, because he was just a great part of the show, and it’s not something we wanted to just gloss over.”
In some ways, you could have argued that Roseanne didn’t necessarily have to honor Quinn, mostly because of the fact that he died more than fifteen years ago. This is what made it an especially heartfelt move, since this represented the producers going above and beyond what they necessarily needed to do in order to actually honor someone who they considered to be important. We wish that Quinn was still around in order for his legacy to be continued on the show, but this way, it is at least ensured that the man and the character are never truly forgotten.
