Criminal Minds season 13 episode 20 video: About Garcia’s personal mission

Criminal Minds - Garcia

What’s coming up on Criminal Minds season 13 episode 20? There’s going to be a pretty creepy case at the heart of “All You Can Eat,” but beyond that there’s going to be a lot of other interesting, personal content that also needs to be explored.

To be specific, this episode is going to hone in on Penelope Garcia and a part of her past that greatly informs who she is: The death of her mother and stepfather. The two were killed by a drunk driver when she was just eighteen years old; the driver was sentenced to 25 years for vehicular homicide and has been behind bars for the past twenty. This is one of the first times in which Garcia has been to one of the hearings at San Quentin in San Francisco and while she is not poised to give a victim impact statement herself, her brother is.

The reality here is that it’s possible the person responsible for killing these people could be out on parole soon, and with that in mind, this is something that Penelope is going to have to face. Is she ready to actually do that? We imagine that this is going to be a difficult thing to grasp just because it’s so personal — even if this person has learned from their mistakes, there are things that are still unforgivable in her eyes. This isn’t going to be easy for Garcia to handle, but we know that she’s going to have the full support of her BAU family in the process — even if not all of them seemed to be aware of what went on in Garcia’s past until the very moment. Beyond just the Garcia component to this preview, there is a little bit of humor here just in terms of how much certain parts of the BAU are a mess — namely, the refrigerator. For a group of people who take so much pride in order and procedure, all of that seems to go out the window when it comes to dealing with leftovers. The thing looks like one of those freezers on Kitchen Nightmares that sends Gordon Ramsay into a tear of profanity. It’s completely unrelated to anything else within this episode, but is certainly still funny nonetheless. It’s also ironic given the title of this episode.
