The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 21 spoilers: Neil Gaiman to appear

The Big Bang Theory season 11 episode 21

The Big Bang Theory has decided that they want to bring another icon onto the eleventh season before the finale, and this one could have major implications for the character of Stuart (who is easily one of our favorites on the show).

CBS confirmed this week that American Gods author Neil Gaiman will be appearing on the 21st episode of the season (airing on April 19) in a role he knows rather well: Himself. The synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below for “The Comet Polarization” gives you a little more of a sense as to how he’s going to be implemented into the story:

“The Comet Polarization” – Sheldon’s [favorite] comic book store experiences changes when writer Neil Gaiman puts Stuart’s store on the map. Also, Koothrappali takes credit for Penny’s astronomical discovery, and friendships are threatened, on THE BIG BANG THEORY, Thursday, April 19 (8:00-8:31 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

What is so interesting about this episode for Stuart is that for most of the series, he’s been the poor, hapless comic-book geek who has never been able to make much of a name for himself. It probably doesn’t help him that the tradition of visiting comic-book stores is isn’t what it once was with the advent of tablets, e-readers, and internet stores like Amazon. It’s almost funny that Stuart’s store is at the height of its popularity as of this time. Seeing him have some element of success and notoriety opens up so many comedic possibilities. For starters, it could make Sheldon feel even more like a part of his life is passing him by. Stuart has always been the one member of the inner circle whose life always seems to be in ruins. This could bring him to another level, and while Sheldon may have a lot to be grateful about including a steady job and a wedding later this season, he is not a character who often thinks in a binary sense. If someone close to him gets something that he doesn’t feel they deserve, he is going to act out about it. That’s just a part of his nature and holding back is not exactly something that he knows how to do.

As for everything else of note within this episode, seeing whether or not Penny cares about having her discovery snatched by Raj should be interesting — she’s not someone with a career in astronomy, but she may still feel robbed somewhat of the credit.
