Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 18 is set to air on NBC Wednesday night, and with the title being “Service” it is probably not all that hard in order to figure out what the main story of this episode is going to be. This is an episode in part about the military, but to go along with that trying to find the right way in which for the SVU to handle a crime that features a soldier as a main suspect.

The sneak peek via SpoilerTV gives you a sense of what part of the investigation is going to look like for Carisi and Fin, who arrive on a military base in order to speak with a person of interest. When they are there, they immediately encounter something that is going to be presumably a recurring theme of the episode: Trouble. The base often operates with its own rules separate from much of society; they are not altogether welcoming of outsiders in many ways, given that it interrupts the training. At first it’s difficult for them to locate who they want to speak with, and when they do, they have to go to a separate place so that the soldiers he is training are not privy to the conversation.

Is this man the suspect? Judging solely on the sneak peek alone it’s hard to say for certain; yet, one way or another he is involved. This is a tricky case for them to handle given that soldiers are often American heroes; having one potentially accused of rape sets a terrible standard and is something that we could see the entire base struggling with. Yet, rape is rape and justice needs to be served no matter who the rapist is. That’s something that this episode should be a reminder of. If anything, soldiers should be held to a higher stander because of all of the honor and value they represent as protectors.
