Supergirl season 3 spoilers: Esme Bianco of Game of Thrones to appear

Supergirl season 3 episode 13

Supergirl season 3 has another new addition to the series, but there are some elements of this role still shrouded in mystery.

In a new post on Twitter, Game of Thrones alum Esme Bianco confirmed that she has a role coming up … and that’s more or less all of the information that there is. The CW has not formally announced anything on this casting or this character, but it is interesting given that the series should be closing in on the end of season 3 filming before too long. That likely means in turn that Bianco could be playing someone important to the endgame … though CarterMatt does think that it would also be super-interesting if she ends up playing someone who becomes a big part of season 4 and this is just her introduction to the show. That would be something that is a little bit different from what we’ve seen from Supergirl to date, and really in some ways it’s different from most of the Arrow-verse as a whole. While many of these shows will often reference characters who will appear in future seasons (see, for example, DeVoe on The Flash last year), it’s not all that common for them to actually appear in the flesh.

There is no guarantee that Bianco is going to be playing a villain, but no matter her role, there is a lot of story for Supergirl as a whole to try and resolve. The writers will likely be taking their time in order to wrap up the main story of this season with Reign, and depending on whatever is dealt with there we will have a chance to see some other important matters taken on. For example, what happens with Ruby in the event that Samantha ends up dead? Meanwhile, what are we going to see with Kara professionally, and will Mon-El stay in this era or opt to move back into the future with the rest of the Legion?

At this point, we’re just eager more than anything else to see more of Supergirl season 3 in general given how long it’s been since the series was on the air. This is a rather unusual midseason hiatus for the series, but a week from Monday, it’s going to be back to tell the remainder of season 3.

In addition to playing Ros on the aforementioned HBO epic, Bianco is also known for her work on Syfy’s The Magicians.

What do you think about Esme Bianco joining Supergirl season 3?
