Station 19 episode 5 preview: Miranda Bailey visits the firehouse!

For those of you excited to see little Grey’s Anatomy crossovers on Station 19, episode 5 airing on ABC next week should be your opportunity to do that. Chandra Wilson is bringing her character of Dr. Bailey over for more of a substantial appearance than what we saw in the premiere. This time around, she’s sticking around the firehouse long enough to get to know some of Ben’s new co-workers, and from a social experiment standpoint alone this should prove interesting. What we are seeing here is Bailey getting to see a very different side of her husband than she’s used to, given that she hasn’t been around him in both this environment and with this group of people. That’s exciting and different, and hopefully, this is going to set the table for some really great character drama the rest of the season.

Miranda Bailey visits Ben at work, meeting his new co-workers for the first time. While most of the team responds to a motor vehicle accident involving an electrical danger, Andy and Maya are paired up to go on their first stakeout.

What does a stakeout with two firefighters look like? Part of the fun of this episode is going to be getting a chance to see that. Station 19 has a challenge that any show within this genre would, and that’s continuing to come up with new ways to make some of the stories interesting and exciting. You can’t just present the same sort of fire every time and put the characters in a similar sort of danger. If you do, then you run the risk of is some of the stories feeling repetitive and so far Station 19 has done a great job of feeling fresh and new!

How are things charting towards a season 2 renewal?

So far, there is a reason for a lot of optimism with this show. The ratings have been solid, and we think that with the Grey’s Anatomy name in mind the series is probably only going to continue to improve from here. Adding Grey’s Anatomy characters here and there is, without a doubt, going to help the show get to the next level. Beyond that there is one other thing that the writers need to prioritize: Coming up big events that can get people talking even if they have never seen the show before.
